KANPUR: Panic prevailed after the body of a woman with serious injury marks was recovered from near the Ugu railway station in Unnao district on Sunday morning.
During investigation, the woman was identified as Kahkashan, wife of Javed of Dakauli village in Fattepur Chaurasi area. She had gone shopping with her brother-in-law. However, her dead body was recovered six km ahead of her maternal home while her brother-in-law, who was accompanying her, has been reported to be missing.
Police have now launched searches for the whereabouts of the brother-in-law of the deceased. Going by the injuries on the victim’s head, it appears that the woman was murdered.
Kahkashan, the 26-year-old wife of Javed, a resident of Dakauli village of Fatehpur Chaurasi area, had gone shopping with her brother-in-law Naukhesh on Saturday morning at Bangarmau market, the police said.
“After buying a lehenga and jewellery, she went to the house of a relative of her maternal side in Bangarmau. At around six pm, she called her family members and informed them about her reaching her maternal relative’s house in Kalimitti village,” the police said.
“When she did not reach home till late night, the family members made a phone call to Kahkashan and her brother-in-law, but their calls remained unanswered. Later, they went to sleep, thinking they didn’t pick their phone calls as they might have also fallen asleep. However, Kahkashan’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on Hulasi Kua-Gauria road near Ugu railway station on Sunday morning”, the Police further said.
The spot from where the body was recovered is located 6 km ahead from her maternal home, the police said and added, “Going by the findings, it appears that the woman was murdered.”
Circle Officer Maya Rai rushed to the spot along with forensic experts and conducted an investigation in coordination with the local police team. The police have launched searches for the woman’s brother-in-law. The bag of the deceased containing lehenga and other items has been recovered from her possession. “Kahkashan was married to Javed on May 21 this year. Javed works abroad, Investigation is being done from all possible angles.”We expect an early breakthrough,” the CO said.
