Up Likely To Host Khelo India University Games | Lucknow News


LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh is most likely to host the third edition of Khelo India University games in April next year.
According to sources, the Khelo India varsity games will have 18 events, including Yoga and Mallakhamba. The formal announcement in this regard would be made soon.
The first Edition of Khelo India was held at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, Odisha in 2020. The second edition of the Khelo India University games, which were postponed due to Covid in 2021, were finally hosted by Bangalore’s Jain University in 2022. The second edition had witnessed competition in 20 events.
According to the sources, the venue and stakeholders for the Khelo India University games would be finalized soon. In all, 4,000 athletes from across 150 institutes and universities are expected to take part in the games.
The Khelo India University games are considered to be a stepping stone to reach the Olympic podium. It is considered to be a mega event to provide first hand experience to the youth interested in making sports as their career. It is also a perfect platform to spot the budding talent.
