Two Uttar Pradesh teachers to get national award | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: Two teachers from UP have been selected by the Centre for this year’s national awards.
The teachers are being honoured for their efforts in improving enrolment, motivating students to attend school regularly and taking teaching-learning to higher levels by bringing in innovation to classrooms.
In all, 44 teachers from across the country will be honoured on the eve of Teacher’s Day on September 5. The two from UP are Tripti Mahor from Government Girls Inter College in Rampur and Manish Kumar from Junior High School in Auraiyya.
A social science teacher for class 10 students and history teacher for class 12 students, Tripti made use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to make classes interesting.
Tripti got her personal projector to the school for smart classes.
“When I started teaching through a projector, I saw a visible change in students. They were more receptive and their self-confidence got a boost,” said Tripti.
Promoting joyful learning in her school, Tripti organises dramas to teach India’s journey of freedom struggle. During lockdown, she made audio clips of different topics in history which were aired on the department’s YouTube channel.
“I feel students should not only study history but also use India’s glorious history to connect with life,” said Tripti.
For Manish Kumar, a recipient of the state teachers’ award in 2018, his innovation in taking science to new heights has earned him a national award.
He has developed a science park in the school where the waste is invested.
“We have converted the kabaad khana (junkyard) in kabaad khazana (treasure of scrap). Students get waste from their houses and we make different products,” Manish said.
Five years back, when Manish joined the school, there was not a single tree inside the campus.
“Now, there is not an inch of space left for further plantation,” he said.
Since the classroom teaching was disrupted due to the pandemic, Manish launched a Youtube channel, ‘Gyan ka Yan’ which engaged children in quick quiz series.
He has also made several short films based on environment and health.
