Kanpur: The district administration has beefed up security in the city in view of the Diwali festivals.
All necessary security arrangements are in place for the peaceful culmination of Diwali festival, said Commissioner of Police BP Jogdand. Round the clock patrolling would continue in markets and busy thoroughfares where a huge footfall is expecte d, he added.Besides the local police, PC and para-military personnel as well as peace committees and other social and voluntary organisations are monitoring arrangements, Jogdand said. “In case of any problem, one can call on 112. The police will reach the needy in a few minutes. The police of the concerned station will also continue to patrol the crowded areas. With the help of CCTV, every corner of markets and thoroughfares will be monitored from the control room”, he further said.
The subordinates have been told to ensure fool-proof security at malls, railway stations, bus stations and tempo stands. They were told to frisk suspicious people in market areas as well as at railway and bus stations, he added.
The district administration officials meanwhile conducted rounds of sensitive areas, vital installations and religious sites on Sunday evening. DM Vishak G Iyer said, “We have made fool-proof arrangements to maintain peace and law and order across the city.”
