The advance booking numbers for both the films, however, are signalling at very low opening, reports Box Office India. Ram Setu is looking at Rs 1.50 crore nett advance and about 75% of this will be for day one, the report further states.
Looking at the advance booking, trade predicts both films will open at much lower than Rs 10 crore nett. As discussed in depth in ETimes’ #BigStory, neither of the films is carrying the hype of Diwali releases. As filmmaker Sanjay Gupta said, “It’s just that the films are not coming with enough pomp and show that a Diwali release usually has.” Even film critic and trade analyst Komal Nahta believes the excitement of Diwali releases that used to be there earlier is missing. “Both Thank God and Ram Setu may open well, but the thrill and pensive mood that used to be there that ‘we must watch this film’, is amiss,” he says.
