Ram Setu box office collection day 1: Akshay Kumar’s film off to a good start | Hindi Movie News

Thank God vs Ram Setu is the lukewarm Diwali box office clash this year. Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandes, Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer Ram Setu has taken a good start at the box office, especially in the mass centres.

Ram Setu opened in the 30-35% range, thanks to the Diwali holiday, reports Box Office India. The opening shows received a good occupancy and there there were even full houses during the noon shows in the Hindi belt, the report further stated. The film could touch Rs 15 crore nett mark as the opening day figure.

While the advance bookings for both Thank God and Ram Setu were neck-to-neck, Ram Setu eventually took the lead. Trade circuit however predicted the collections may not be that impressive as other Diwali releases. “There is no excitement around both the films and the audience have not been going to the theatres like they used to. The content of the films is a big factor. It’s always the family entertainment films that work on Diwali. So out of the two, I feel Thank God will take over Ram Setu,” film distributor Raj Bansal had said to ETimes.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta felt both the films seem to be good family entertainers with good music, good faces, and are coming at the right time. “But it’s just that they are not coming with enough pomp and show that a Diwali release usually has,” he said.
