Noida: The two children, aged 3 and 6, who were found murdered in the green belt area of Sector 34 on Wednesday, died due to injuries caused by a sharp object that their killer used to slit their throats, according to the autopsy report. Police say circumstantial evidence points to their father being the prime suspect.
Mahesh, the father of the children, still remains untraced but cops claim that he was caught on a CCTV camera moving towards the Aravali housing society in Sector 34 without a shirt. Though Mahesh is the prime suspect, his family members still can’t believe that he could kill his own sons.
The autopsy has, however, ruled out any sedative or poison being given to the children prior to their killings. But police officials say that it seems that the elder child would have struggled to resist the murder, resulting in the cuts on one of his hands.
A blade was recovered from the spot but it did not have blood stains. DCP (Noida) Rajesh S told TOI that the blade could have been used to slit the throats of the kids but the blade did not have any blood stains and it was possible that the murderer could have cleaned the blade after the crime.
“The white colour shirt, full of blood, which was recovered from near the bodies belongs to the father. Further, in one of the CCTV footage recovered from the Aravali apartment, Mahesh can be seen walking without his shirt on. The circumstantial evidence points to his involvement in the crime,” he said.
In the CCTV footage, in possession with TOI, the father can be seen moving in the Sector 34 area near the crime spot at 9.21 pm, possibly after the murder of the kids.
Noida police have formed several teams to check the whereabouts of Mahesh. Cops have checked the Morna bus stand, metro stations around the area and residences of his relatives where he could possibly hide but to no avail.
Mahesh’s younger brother Arun, however, told TOI that they could not believe that he would kill his own children. “I knew that he was upset over job loss but never thought he would kill the kids. At times, small incidents at home would disturb him but I could never imagine that he could do such a thing.”
But the DCP said, “The kids have been killed and their father who was with them, has gone missing. There seems to be more information within the family, which needs to be revealed.”
