Varanasi: After the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) administration on Thursday issued a general appeal not to create controversy over a question related to beef in the recent semester examination at the university, APRO, Chandra Shekhar received a threatening call from an unknown caller. The matter was reported to the police.
Recently, through social media platforms, some people raised objection over the question asking to define beef in the semester examination of Catering Technology and Hotel Management.
“I received the call on my official number at 1.24pm on Thursday, after I issued a video statement regarding the question asked in the semester examination of Catering Technology and Hotel Management under the Vocational Course,” said the APRO. He added that the caller threatened him and also passed objectionable remarks against the VC. He lodged a complaint at Lanka police station for necessary action.

According to BHU spokesperson, Rajesh Singh, courses in Catering Technology and Hotel Management are taught under the Vocational Course in BHU. The course started this year in the university, has one of the papers on food production. The purpose of this course is to get informed about the food items of India and other countries of the world, so that in future when students go for a job they can be prepared according to the requirements of the job or profession. The question in the semester examination was asked from the syllabus of this course and the syllabus is designed as per the syllabus of the reputed institutes of hotel management in the country.
“It is unfortunate to create unnecessary controversy regarding the question. It is an appeal that studies, exams and the harmonious atmosphere of the university should not be affected,” said the spokesperson.
