After Diwali cheer, Noida prepares for grand Chhath puja celebrations | Noida News


NOIDA: Chhath puja preparations have begun, with bathing pits for offering prayers coming up across Noida and Greater Noida. Many puja samitis will host Bhojpuri, Hindi, and Maithili singers during the four-day festival from October 28 to 31.
The Shri Suryadev Puja Committee (SSPC) is building a Chhath ghat in Sector 71. “A big ghat – 50 feet long, 15 feet wide and 4 feet deep – is under construction in the central park,” said SSPC national president Munna Kumar Sharma, who has already raised a demand with Noida Authority for water, light, cleanliness arrangements at the ghat being built.
On October 30, the SSPC will organise a grand cultural programme in the evening in the Sector 71 central park. “Famous singers, including Kshama Pandey, Preeti Prakash, Devesh Kundan, Pooja Mandal, will perform Bhojpuri, Hindi, Magahi, Maithili, Angika, and Punjabi songs, among others,” Sharma said on Tuesday.
Abhishek Kumar, president of New Era Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA), said on Tuesday that NEFOWA, jointly with the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), has begun work on preparing a Chhath ghat near the Cherry County society in Greater Noida West. formerly known as Noida Extension.
“Work is going on in full swing. We will have Bhojpuri singer Golu Raja, who will perform on October 29, and Bhojpuri bhajans by Kavya Krishnamurti on October 30,” said Kumar.
Devotees are also likely to throng the Sheetla Mata temple in front of the Delta 1 metro station in Greater Noida as thousands of people offer prayers on the banks of the Hindon river.
The Noida Stadium in Sector 21A will continue to be the routine Chhath celebration venue in the city. The puja will happen in sectors 12, 49, 82 and 5 in Noida.
The festival is widely celebrated across Bihar. It is also popularly seen in east Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, along with some parts of Assam and West Bengal.
