5 killed, 41 injured as bus rams truck on Agra-Lucknow Expressway | Kanpur News

KANPUR: As many as five persons were killed while 41 others injured when a sleeper bus carrying passengers to Rajasthan’s Ajmer from Gorakhpur rammed into a gravel laden truck near Saifai of Etawah district on Agra-Lucknow Expressway early on Sunday.
Police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS), Saifai, in Etawah.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. The CM instructed the officials to ensure proper treatment for the survivors.
The impact of the collision was such that the bus and truck could be separated with the help of cranes after a lot of effort.
On receiving the information, district magistrate Avnish Kumar Rai, SSP Jaiprakash, SDM Jyotsna Bandhu and Saifai circle officer Nagendra Chaubey reached the spot along with the police force and supervised the rescue operation.
The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary at UPUMS.
“All the injured have been admitted to the UPUMS’ emergency trauma centre where they are being treated. We have apprised the family members of the injured as well as the dead,” said CO Nagendra Chaubey.
