PRAYAGRAJ: At a time when the government is revamping the medical system across the state in anticipation of the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic, recruitment of doctors too has been expedited. Hospitals and the community health centres in the state have got 181 new paediatricians and 114 anaesthetists.
“The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has completed the selection process in a record time of one-and-a-halfmonths from the date of issuing the advertisement for the posts to be filled through direct recruitment. However, as an adequate number of eligible candidates were not found, 419 posts of paediatricians and 476 posts of anaesthetists are still vacant in the direct recruitment,” UPPSC PRO Pushkar Srivastava informed TOI on Thursday.

Other posts advertised had included 75 posts each of radiologist, pathologist, ophthalmologist, orthopedician, ENT specialist, dermatologist, psychiatrist and forensic specialist besides 30 posts each of microbiologist and public health specialist.
“Against these posts, the commission received applications from a total of ,4062 aspirants. The interview for the two posts of paediatricians and anaesthetists were held between July 26 and August 4,” the PRO said.
He also informed TOI that interviews of 345 candidates for the posts of general physicians and gynecologists too have been completed on August 18. The results of these two posts too would be announced by the commission within the next one week, he added.
Now, interviews for pathologists and general surgeons are scheduled to be held from August 24.
