Varanasi: In a clash between two groups over dispute of bursting crackers one Jitendra Sonkar (23) was killed while Pappu Modanwal of rival group suffered serious injuries in Naibazar area of Bhadohi district on Monday night. Six persons have been arrested in this connection. Heavy police force was deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident on Wednesday. SP Bhadohi Anil Kumar said that after receiving complaint from both groups police arrested six persons after probing the matter. Persons indulged in fighting are being identified with the help of CCTV footages, he added.
Regarding the incident additional SP Bhadohi Rajesh Bharti said that Sonkar group was indulged in fireworks on Monday late night when their neighbours Pappu Modanwal and his supporters asked them not to do so. It led to clash between both groups in which Jitendra suffered grave injuries after being attacked with sharp edged weapons while Pappu also suffered injuries. On getting information heavy police force reached Naibazar and pacified the situation. Jitendra was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, said officials adding, Pappu was referred to Varanasi. In view of tension gripped the area heavy police force remained deployed on Tuesday. Officials said that police were interrogating many persons after getting complaints from both groups. tnn
